The Story Behind the Logo
For the first time in its history, ICC is being held in Asia, Japan. The logo created for this milestone event blends elements of modern cybersecurity and traditional Japanese craftsmanship, telling a story of unity, resilience, and cultural connection.
Bamboo: A Symbol Deeply Rooted in Japanese Life
Bamboo is more than a plant in Japan - it's a cultural symbol. From festival decorations and artisanal crafts to everyday utensils and foods, bamboo supports life in many forms. Cybersecurity, too, supports modern life in ways that are often invisible but essential. The use of bamboo in the logo reflects that shared role: a quiet yet powerful force that sustains society.
A Design Inspired by Traditional Bamboo Weaving
The structure of the logo draws from a weaving technique called "Rinko-ami", where thin bamboo strips are arranged radially, forming a strong circular centre. In the logo, each bamboo strip represents a participating team or region. As more teams join and connect, the woven structure becomes stronger - just as global collaboration strengthens cybersecurity. The central circle symbolises unity and the potential of what we can build together.
The Meaning Behind the Colours
Navy Blue: Stands for intelligence, trust, and truth - the spirit of CTF participants
Gold: In Japanese culture, it signifies prosperity, success, and longevity
These colours, while distinct in nature, come together in harmony within a single circle, reflecting the multi-layered significance of this event.
